The "Switched On" project is a new project that will deliver a range of personal development programmes and basic skills training through informal learning programmes/ courses and one to one/ group support sessions. The target beneficiaries are BME communities, people who are homeless, travellers or newly arrived. The courses will be delivered in three deprived inner city wards of Cardiff and from two wards in Newport.

The project is to provide training in self advocacy for a group of adults with learning disabilities from the ethnic minority communities. The money is for facilitators fees, interpreters, transport costs, publicity and other items.
Young People First Action Group 24 Jul 2008
The project will set up an Action group made up of young people with a learning disability. The group will consult with other young people with a disability and liaise with organisations to tell them how to improve accessibility in Cardiff and across Wales. The group will produce a resource pack, and training and support programme; detailing ways to engage with young people with a learning disability. The group will also focus on setting up and managing accessible social occasions.

People Around Here will run a multi media project, called Digital Dragon. The project will bring people of different ages and experience together to complete the community-based project. The project meets the Awards for All aim of 'increasing skill and creativity' and 'supporting community activity'. This grant for Â£4,400 will fund community artists fees, production of a DVD, website development, materials and project administration.

Cardiff People First will set up drop in sessions at different placed where there is free internet access to help young people with a learning disability to learn to use a variety of internet services. The project meets the Awards for All aim of improving the quality of life. This grant for Â£4,676 will fund sessional staff, volunteer expenses, postage, telephone, publicity and training.
Brecon Beacons Challenge 01 Nov 2016
Cardiff People First will use the grant to employ a part-time member of staff to help people with learning disabilities to plan, organise and participate in 10 walks in the Brecon Beacons National Park. This grant for Â£4,135 will fund sessional worker costs, post and phone costs, travel costs, materials for walking activities, and a Brecon Beacons National Park Authority leaders fee.

Breaking the mould - Hands on art at Our Place 17 Nov 2015
Working in partnership with a local community centre, this programme will engage professional artists to lead participatory projects in Ely/Caerau, a deprived area of Cardiff, exploring sculpture as an art form and its potential for the creative use of construction skills. Much of the activity will be accredited through the Open College Network; the initiative has a special focus on providing support and mentoring to those in the area who are unemployed or in unsecure employment.

The project will improve the integration of displaced people by providing both refugee awareness training and by undertaking 'community based' inclusion initiatives. It will also expand upon Displaced People In Action's (DPIA's) 'Readiness for Work' project to break down barriers which can prevent refugees from gaining employment.
