Bike it - Walk it 22 May 2008
The project will enable people in the Upper Rhymney Valley to walk and cycle for everyday trips and for leisure so they can interact with the community, gain new skills and confidence, improve social networks, improve their health and have better and affordable access to local amenities and green space. Participants in the project will include people with physical and mental health problems, young people, people with disabilities, young mums and family groups and older people.
Helping more people with their money 21 May 2007
The project is to expand the advice and practical help with financial matters, which is currently available for people with learning disabilities, to be available to people with any disability. The grant will fund a new full-time Trust Officer and part-time Administrator in order to cater for the increased demand.
Young People First Action Group 24 Jul 2008
The project will set up an Action group made up of young people with a learning disability. The group will consult with other young people with a disability and liaise with organisations to tell them how to improve accessibility in Cardiff and across Wales. The group will produce a resource pack, and training and support programme; detailing ways to engage with young people with a learning disability. The group will also focus on setting up and managing accessible social occasions.
Radio UCAN 28 Jan 2010
The project will build on the success of current UCAN projects with blind and partially sighted young people across Wales, offering a voice to young people who are isolated due to their disability and geographical locations. A series of workshops will be run across Wales to encourage young people to create, write and perform their own, individual and group radio broadcasts.
Refugee Inclusion Project 31 Jan 2008
The project will improve the integration of displaced people by providing both refugee awareness training and by undertaking 'community based' inclusion initiatives. It will also expand upon Displaced People In Action's (DPIA's) 'Readiness for Work' project to break down barriers which can prevent refugees from gaining employment.
The project is to provide companionship, emotional and practical support for people with dementia and carers in Wales. The service will provide a team of trained volunteer befrienders to befriend one-to-one and in groups for people with dementia, and will support carers with a telephone befriending service.
