The project aims to work with participants furthest from the labour market in Leicester. They aim to move them closer towards education, employment or training opportunities by developing their digital and financial skills.
This grant will be used to develop plans for a project to engage with 2,020 participants to help improve their financial and digital skills. Participants will be supported to enter/re-enter the job market through a volunteering pathway that trains community champions and links participants to education and employment opportunities. The development funding will be used to fund community consultation, research and evaluation.
Volunteering Sundays 28 Nov 2005
This organisation will take a team of 50 volunteers out on one Sunday each month to carry out community work. There will be four groups - environmental, DIY, Sunday roast and Mobile Skate Park. The project will provide volunteers with access to new activities, training and skill development and the beneficiaries of the work have been identified through a similar project that was organised throughout Merseyside to support those most in need e.g homeless and disabled people.

The organisation will use an award to open a mobile youth project based on a double decker bus. The bus will contain various activities and equipment which will be offered as an alternative to taking part in anti-social activities. The bus will take the services to areas where young people congregate.

An award for a project to organise monthly meetings for HIV positive mothers. The porject will provide relaxation sessions and psycho-social support whilst their children attend a creche. The grant will pay for creche and venue hire, meals and holistic therapies.

This community organisation will use an award to renovate and decorate their premises. The group will create an office space with a mezzanine floor with "hot desks" which will allow a wide variety of groups to use the facilities at any time.

This new project will set up an interactive website specifically for young people who have been disclosed as HIV positive. The website will address issues around disclosure, keeping healthy, and medication. The young people would also design and produce an educating leaflet to raise awareness and to publicise the website. The young people will also develop skills in project management, finance, IT and communication that will enhance their employability as they approach adulthood.

The organisation will use the funding to purchase tools and equipment and develop a community workshop with metalwork, woodwork, DIY and leatherwork areas. This will encourage intergenerational working, enable older residents to pass down traditional skills, and undertake projects to help improve the local community, helping to reduce their isolation.
