Non-judgemental support for women who sex work 29 Nov 2019

Outreach – On foot into Manchester City Centre engaging with women who are begging, rough sleeping and at risk of becoming entrenched in poverty. We know patterns of begging are leading to sex work to ‘top up’ income, and/or female rough sleepers being controlled or coerced into sex working. Drop-in centre / Activities – Each week day, we provide a safe, non-judgemental space where women can have their immediate needs met e.g. access to caseworker one-to-one support, condoms, needle exchange and sexual health screenings. We also want to develop our drop-in sessions so women can engage in activities to boost wellbeing and self-esteem.

Trafford Sunrise 29 Nov 2019

When we work with children and parents, we provide them with resources and handouts that they can take home with them after each session. We also ask them to complete feedback forms so that we can gauge the effectiveness of the work and make any necessary changes. The service is heavily used and we worked with 258 children and families in the last year including referrals from GPs, Paediatricians, school staff and self-referrals. This means that we need to do a lot of printing and require a robust printer to meet this demand.
