Hear to Help Cymru 28 Nov 2012

The project will recruit and train volunteers to provide hearing aid support for vulnerable people across Wales, through drop in sessions and home visits. The project will establish and deliver 12 local Hear to Help services working closely with local audiology departments, run 38 sets of accredited volunteer training, deliver 72 accessible community drop-in sessions and 20 support sessions at residential care facilities.

'Hear to Inform and Support' - Devon & Cornwall 27 Jul 2016

This project will support people living in rural communities across Devon and Cornwall with hearing loss, to help reduce their isolation. Volunteers will offer regular advice on specialist equipment and hearing aids in accessible community settings and there will be information stands at community events for older people, offering hearing checks and helping users manage aids. There will also be support for local groups with communication and equipment so they are more accessible to people with hearing loss.

Hear to Inform and Connect – supporting older people with hearing loss 16 Sep 2016

This project will be expanded to provide vital information services that enable isolated older people to better manage their hearing loss across London, the South East, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Through a mixture of information stands and talks offering advice on all aspects of hearing loss from getting hearing aids to learning how to lip-read, the project will help older people be better informed and keep them connected to family, friends and the world around them.

The Royal National Institute for Deaf People will use the grant to organise an event in Llandudno which will offer advice to the local community about accessing useful information, products, services, training and support for hearing loss, deafness and tinnitus. This grant for £3,846 will fund venue hire, communication support, travel expenses, BSL interpreters, marketing costs, and volunteer expenses.

Supporting people who are deaf with complex needs to communicate throu 23 Nov 2016

This is a project by an incorporated charity in Islington, serving people in Bath. The project will install sensory musical equipment in a care home for people living with hearing impairments and other complex needs, as well as perform outreach services using the new equipment. This will enable participants to improve their communication and social skills, engage more effectively within their communities and reduce social isolation.

Hear to Inform and Connect 20 Aug 2015

This is a project to scale up the group’s volunteer-led face-to-face information service across the UK. This supports older people to identify and manage hearing loss, and increase their engagement with their local communities and support organisations to make their services accessible. The service is currently operating in Northumberland, Devon and Cornwall, and Northern Ireland. This development grant will support the consultation, mapping and design of a UK-wide service.

'In Touch' Project 11 Jun 2012

Formerly known as RNID, the group will use their grant to support isolated & lonely older people who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them adapt to their hearing loss & to improve their communication with families, carers, and the wider community.
