Street Art 24 Oct 2016
The project aims to bring residents together to develop a piece of street art. We hope to bring the community together to discuss the art work and aim to create a mural done by a local artist that reflects the diversity of the communities in the area. This will be achieved using a bird theme where local residents can choose their most iconic/meaningful birds from their home countries which will then be included in the mural to demonstrate the diversity and beauty of shared cultures. We hope that this work will bring a smile to those passing as well as help develop community cohesion, tolerance and community resilience by developing relationships between neighbours who may not have engaged with each other, and their cultures, before. We will also engage local residents in the painting of the mural by advertising the day and inviting other community organisations to come along with stalls e.g. Black Health Agency, Trafford Housing Trust, Manchester International Festival, Police and Crime Commissioner etc
