To support the development of the WASSUP project.
The project is to set up craft/social clubs for older people. The money is for hire of meeting rooms, materials and travel costs for outings.
The Stepping Stones Project 14 Sep 2004
The Stepping Stones Project addresses a gap in service provision for homeless people in Barnet. The project will operate on Sunday and Bank Holidays to complement a week-day service run by Homeless Action in Barnet at the same location. Homeless people will be provided with meals and supported to access services in areas such as health, personal hygiene and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Volunteers will receive training to help broaden their experience and develop their skills.
Older people volunteering at primary schools 11 Jan 2005
The project will empower older people to take an active part in their communities by giving them the opportunity to take the lead in designing and delivering voluntary services to support the development of children in Hackney and Tower Hamlets. Older volunteers will work in primary schools to provide support for pupils, especially those for whom English is an additional language.
Media and communications workshops 17 Feb 2005
CSV Media is the arm of CSV which seeks to use media to empower and inform people to give different communities a voice. The project 'FIRST' will work with people who are disadvantaged in the labour market and have low levels of IT skills. It will run a series of workshops around the Ipswich area on the subject of interactive storytelling enabling people to share experiences and gain understanding.
The project is a three day canoe camp for young people from an alternative curriculum Group. The money is for canoes, shelter and food and supervising staff costs.
WW2 Storytelling 28 Apr 2005
The Community Service Volunteers will use their award to carry out oral reminiscence sessions at 9 locations nationwide (Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, Middlesbrough, London, Plymouth, Brighton, Ipswich and Birmingham). memories and experiences of veterans will be recorded by trained staff and will then be transcribed onto a CD for local distribution and also put on the BBC People's War website.
To provide a dedicated volunteer transport service for carers, young and old. Drivers will be recruited from the older, retired population to provide the service throughout Ceredigion. The funding, over three years, will pay the salary of the Scheme Co-ordinator, recruitment, general running expenses, travel and training, producing information, office equipment and organisational overheads. _x000B__x000B_Bydd y prosiect yn darparu gwasanaeth trafnidiaeth gwirfoddol pwrpasol i ofalwyr hen ac ifanc.
The project is to recruit volunteers over the age of 50yrs and place them in schools alongside children wh0 need help in developing their basic numeracy and literacy skills. The project will empower older people to engage in local community activity. The grant over three years will partly fund one full time and one part time Schools Project Co-ordinator post, training and travel for staff and volunteers, office equipment, rent and general running expenses.
