This project, based on a established youth-led volunteering model is expanding as a result of self-referrals and is being delivered in Hackney, Haringey and Tower Hamlets. It will support young people aged 13 to 25 to deliver volunteering and social action projects which they have identified to be of benefit to the local community. The aim of project is that all of the young people who are participating in it will develop key skills and have positive experiences that will shape their personal development.

The Living With Dementia Project is a specialist support service for people with dementia. The overall aim is to help people remain in their own homes, active and engaged with their family and community, maintaining relationships, social skills and self esteem.The project provides emotional and social support though one to one befriending, group activities and outings. The service is tailored to individual needs and can support people from the early stages through to advanced stages of the condition.
The project is to provide information, support and advice to people diagnosed with dementia, and their carers to improve their quality of life, and assist the carer in 'moving-on' after bereavement.
Service Development within Rotherham Borough. 07 Sep 2004
The organisation provides information about services for people with dementia and their carers and also supports them in influencing future service delivery. The project will enable better co-ordination of this work. The two year grant will contribute to staff costs for a full time Co-ordinator.
This registered charity supports people with Alzheimers and their carers in the local area. They will use the award to set up two monthly support groups for carers and families, which will offer support, practical advice and information. The award will pay for refreshments; speaker costs; admin for group; transport for carers; support material; facilitators fees.

The Manchester branch of Community Service Volunteers runs a range of projects that encourage people to take up learning via its Media Clubhouse. With this award it will deliver workshops, led by a qualified nutritionist, aimed at individuals who want to become volunteer healthy living advisors. The volunteers will be recruited from groups with multiple disadvantages as well as minority groups based in and around the City Centre.
