Befriending Service 02 Jun 2004
The branch of Alzheimer's Society in the Mourne and Kilkeel areas provides support and practical help to families, carers and people with Alzheimer's disease. The grant will fund a volunteer befriending scheme for people with dementia.
Reapplication: Carer support and information 08 Sep 2004
The Alzheimer's Society supports people with dementia and their families and carers by providing information, advice and practical support. The project will focus on support for people in the Middlesbrough area. The 3 year Big Lottery Fund grant will contribute towards the cost of a new full time Carer Support Worker and three other staff.
This project's main aim is to improve the daily experience of caring for and being a person with dementia. Information is provided on a one to one basis, with individual contact, to help those affected. The aim is to carefully listen to and continue to support independence for people within their own homes thereby reducing isolation and improving quality of life.
Befriending Project 02 Nov 2004
This project will empower people with dementia to make informed choices about their future care, enable them to do things that they would otherwise be unable to do alone and allow them to maintain their independence for longer.
Developing Carer Support Work Project 10 May 2005
The project will enable the continuation and development of Carer Support work, improving the quality of life for carers of people with dementia, particularly those who live in isolated rural areas.
Volunteer Britain 14 Jul 2005
Community Service Volunteers (CSV) works to reconnect people to their community through volunteering and training and to enrich people?s lives. This project will produce short audio and visual clips on volunteer's experiences, produced by the volunteers themselves. CSV will showcase the clips in order to recognise their efforts and promote volunteering to others, through radio, TV and at local community events. This will be done in conjunction with the 'Year of the Volunteer' campaign.

CSV Environment (Bristol) will promote and develop the community gardens and establish a volunteer community management group to sustain it for the benefit of all local residents.
Outreach and Support Service 15 Nov 2006
Outreach and support services will be provided for people with dementia and their carers in the New Forest district. One-to-one and telephone support, home visits, drop-in sessions, group meetings, carer training courses and other social events will be among services that will give emotional support to reduce isolation and ease the burden on carers.

The Vale royal branch of the Alzheimer's Society will use an award to provide an advice and support helpline for sufferers of dementia and their carers. Services on offer will include information and training sessions, lunch groups, drop ins, awareness raising events and social activities.

The award will fund a pilot buddying scheme, with carers assigned to a former or experienced carer during the key times of change in their caring role.

Carer Support Scheme 20 Sep 2005
The project will give people in the North Kirklees access to practical and emotional support and advice regarding Alzheimer's disease and contact with a supportive network of carers and people with dementia in order to reduce isolation. The project will also increase general knowledge and awareness of the disease within the community.
Respite and family support will be provided in the homes of people living with dementia and their carers in Allderdale and Copeland, Workington. Comprehensive carer support plans, a telephone helpline, personal strategies for caring and coping with the condition and social opportunities for people with dementia will be provided.
Operation Strongbow 13 Feb 2008
This project in Stockton-on-Tees, based on successful previous work in Middlesbrough, is a volunteer-led initiative to support older people at risk of distraction burglary. Volunteers will visit vulnerable and older people in their homes, or in community settings such as day centres, to empower them to avoid doorstep crime. Older people will be alerted to the types of tricks used, simple steps they can take to avoid being victims, and the importance of reporting any incidents to the police.
CSV Vocal Project 15 Aug 2012
This grant will expand the volunteer project for people with learning disabilities into new parts of the county, offering a programme of training, volunteering and supported employment using community mentors. Called the Vocal Project, participants work with community volunteers who help them to access training and social events. As their confidence around people and skills develop, they will then gradually move into volunteering placements either in a group or an individual setting._x000B_
