This project in Stockton-on-Tees, based on successful previous work in Middlesbrough, is a volunteer-led initiative to support older people at risk of distraction burglary. Volunteers will visit vulnerable and older people in their homes, or in community settings such as day centres, to empower them to avoid doorstep crime. Older people will be alerted to the types of tricks used, simple steps they can take to avoid being victims, and the importance of reporting any incidents to the police.

This a new project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable and isolated older men living in Middlesbrough. It will target the physically inactive and those at risk from undetected health conditions, depression and are lacking in motivation. The project will support beneficiaries to run their own physical activities that could include bowls, football, walking etc which will be delivered in community centres, church halls, working men's clubs, pubs, allotments, green spaces and leisure venues.

This expansion of an existing project will aim to improve the physical and mental health of older people in Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees through providing volunteer opportunities and activities, including information and networking meetings, community events and physical activities. A pilot project has been run, covering a limited area of Middlesbrough. The grant will fund the salaries of project workers, training and activities.
