The award is for a project to organise a conference for profoundly deaf people where they will participate in issues relating to topics of interest to their group. This will benefit the attendees by providing them with relevant information.

health and fitness activities for asylum seekers 28 Mar 2007
The resource centre aims to preserve and protect the good health of the community in the west end of Newcastle. They will provide free access to their health and fitness facility for asylum seekers living in the west end of Newcastle. An interpreter will attend 2 hourly induction sessions per month to show the asylum seekers how to use the facilities safely. The project will integrate the asylum seekers into society by removing financial and language barriers.
Fencing, Wheelchair, Special Coaching/Tutoring 11 Apr 2007
A project to carry out a programme of wheelchair fencing by this group in Taunton Deane, Somerset. The grant will include funding for fencing equipment, coach and salle fees and improved disabled facilities.

This organisation provide support to people with arthritis. They will use an award to hold an event to help people access a variety of information which could help them to manage their arthritis with less dependence on the medical profession.

This singing group will use an award to set up a website to update their image and attract new members to the group. The website project will be used as a marketing tool to encourage new members to join their singing workshops and advertise events held by the group.

This new group provides a base for older members of the community to get together and socialise. The award will fund kitchen equipment so the group can start a meal service at the drop-in sessions.

The Chesterfun Club is an after school club held in the local community centre. The award will enable them to take the children on a number of excursions with our heritage and future themes. A local re-enactment group and local historians will also visit the club and bring to life historical events in the local area.
