This project aims to establish a community volunteering scheme for young people aged 11-21 years old (up to 25 for those with special needs) in Sutton Coldfield. This project will operate with a current Streetwise Project, which uses youth workers on the streets to direct young people into positive activites and support the development of volunteering initiatives and actively seek local opportunities for volunteering.

'Release' is a three year project led by Sutton Coldfield YMCA that will reach out to young carers who feel isolated. Youth workers will provide much-needed support via home visits, activities and support groups to help develop a quality standard to ensure schools can also provide inclusive support to young carers. Volunteers who have been young carers themselves will act as mentors and other volunteers will provide weekly respite support.

This is a project by a charity in Sutton Coldfield. The group will use the funding to stage a musical art and drama Christmas performance by young people with special needs, including autism, Down's syndrome and physical difficulties. This will encourage the young people to increase their confidence and communication skills through their performance and will help reduce isolation among families.

Sutton Coldfield YMCA aims to deliver outreach activities and interventions to young people aged 10-19 years old living in North Birmingham through this project. Activities will help build youth aspirations and ambitions, giving them skills and confidence to achieve goals. Those involved will play a role in staff recruitment, the shaping of activities and project content. They will also be actively encouraged to become volunteers and peer mentors, participate in leadership roles and engage in events.
