VE Day Parade Celebration 14 Apr 2005
The Kings Lynn branch of the Royal British Legion will use an award to hold a V.E. Day and V.J. Day commemoration event to mark the 60th anniversary of these significant events. This will include a Veterans parade, and Memorial service which will include Naval, Army and Air Cadets.
Royal British Legion Soham Branch have been awarded a grant to enable them to carry two events as part of their celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The project will be comprises of two parts the first being a trip to the Horse guards Parade and Buckingham Palace and the second being a social evening for the members and the other local veterans.
Party in The Park VE/VJ Day Celebrations 22 Jul 2005
Needham market & district Royal British Legion - VE/VJ Day Celebrations Committee have been awarded a grant to enable them to carry out a range of activities as part of their commemoration and celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2.
Schools Battlefield Tour 21 Jun 2006
This Royal British Legion group will take children from four local schools, as well as teachers and branch members, on an educational visit to the historical sites of Ypres, Belgium. This will increase the childrens knowledge of their heritage and, on their return, will take part in talks and displays to the other pupils and the local community to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the first battle of the Somme.
The Royal British Legion in Braintree and Bocking plan to send a number of members on a trip of remembrance to the battlefields of Western Europe. The travellers will lay wreaths on behalf of their friends, fathers and grandfathers.
IT equipment 11 Aug 2005
An award will pay for IT equipment, enabling Citizens Advice in Three Rivers to give a faster and more efficient service to its clients both at the bureaux and on home visits. Citizens Advice assists members of the public with problems on a wide range of issues.
60th anniversary celebration parade 17 Jun 2005
The Bedford Branch of the Royal British Legion will be staging two events to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the ending of World War Two. A church service will be held which will be followed be a reception for all veterans. The second event will be a parade, followed by a wartime memorabilia exhibition and display. Reunion corners will be set up so that Old Comrades can meet again. Entertainment with a 1940's style will also be provided.
1940's Style Garden Party with Afternoon Tea 29 Jul 2005
A project to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2 with the provision of a 1940s style garden party for the benefit of members of this group and the wider community.
Veterans Visit to the Menin Gate and War Graves 19 Jan 2007
This branch of the Royal British Legion will use the award to enable their members to visit Ypres and pay their respects at the Menin Gate of remembrance.
CSV Vocal Project 15 Aug 2012
This grant will expand the volunteer project for people with learning disabilities into new parts of the county, offering a programme of training, volunteering and supported employment using community mentors. Called the Vocal Project, participants work with community volunteers who help them to access training and social events. As their confidence around people and skills develop, they will then gradually move into volunteering placements either in a group or an individual setting._x000B_
This charity will use the funding to replace the telephone system at one of its offices and upgrade the websites for two other offices. This will improve the telephone and website services for local residents, predominantly clients who can't drop in to the CAB through being disabled, housebound or a carer.
Integrating Advice in Three Rivers 19 Apr 2013
The aim of this new project is to improve access to advice services for the people in the Three Rivers area by bringing together advice partners to develop a stronger local network. Citizens Advice Service in Three Rivers (CASITR) will act as lead body and aim to create a more coherent approach to better meet needs. At present, organisations are stretched financially with heavy caseloads. A network will increase efficiency, reduce duplication and operating costs, enable best practice to be shared.
