They also signpost families to other statutory agencies if more specialised help is required, whilst continuing to offer support and encouragement. The Trust for Developing Communities are responsible for Community development, training and consultation across Brighton and Hove. Developing capacity and skills of members of communities so they are better able to identify and help meet their needs. Funding was provided to support a free sports and health festival aimed at young people in Moulseccomb and Bevendean but also young people from other areas in Brighton and Hove.

Funding was provided for the project costs associated with running an art exhibition and series of public events to explore two significant themes: the fight against climate change and the need for good mental health.

They intervene at a time before statutory services are able to provide accommodation and when young people are most vulnerable to the dangers of living on the streets. The Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus is a disabilities support organisation. Their mission is “working with those in Sussex who have spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus to create and develop their best opportunities”. Funding was provided towards their core of costs.

Sudan Club provides regular activities mainly for people in the Sudanese community in Brighton & Hove, such as weekly gatherings and football sessions. They aim give their members opportunities for socialising and healthy activity, and help to develop a sense of kinship and belonging within our community. Funding was provided towards the costs of arranging their meetings and football sessions.
Strike a Light is a not-for-profit community arts and heritage organisation using people’s life stories and memories to engage a wide range of groups in creative and heritage activities, and making art to transform public and private spaces. Funding was provided towards a series of open access community focused life history activities aimed at encouraging local residents, and specifically older participants to engage with their memories and lives to create memory books celebrating the sharing of local memories.

The Steyning Downland Scheme engages the local community and young people in particular, in enhancing the natural beauty of 165 acres of the South Downs National Park for the benefit of the community, the land and its wildlife. It will also be used to train volunteers and increase awareness through new publicity.
