Purchase of digital camera & printer 01 Apr 2004

This branch will purchase its first digital camera and printer to record its 70th birthday celebrations. The majority of members are over 70 years old and several will increase their skills by editing the photos on P.C.s. The record of events will then be put into a book which will form the latest edition in a series of scrap books scanning many years and occasions.

40th anniversary celebration 02 Apr 2004

Wyndham branch of the Co-operative Women's Guild is celebrating its 40th anniversary this October and is planning to invite former members to join them in their celebrations and encourage new members to join. The group plan to go on a day trip to Rochdale to see where the Co-operative movement started. The award is for the hire of a bus, entrance fee and refreshments.

Feasibility Study 02 Apr 2004

This group provides support for the Heckington School swimming pool, in terms of running costs and instructors. for sessions. The project is to undertake a feasibility study into what improvements the community would like at the pool. At present the facilities at the pool are limited in many areas, and the feasibility study will help to target the areas that the community want addressing, and will also raise awareness of the pool.

This group is a self help group for people affected by cancer and their carers/families. The project is to provide advice, information and expertise of a doctor who specialises in Chinese medicine and acupuncture for 1 year. The award is for cost of 10 sessions with specialist doctor.

A Second World War Veteran from Reading has been awarded a grant towards travel costs for a commemorative visit to Coriano Ridge Cemetery, Italy in April of this year. Funding has also been provided for a carer to travel with the Veteran.

Delivery of a workshop 16 Apr 2004

This organisation is set up and run by young people with ME aged 5-26 years. It is currently training a network of young people recovering from ME, as Volunteer Peer Facilitators to enable them to deliver a workshop that builds confidence, self-esteem, happiness and friendships for young people with ME. The award will enable a workshop to be run in Alfreton. The young people who attend the workshop will be encouraged to continue meeting and develop a self-help network.

Storage furniture 16 Apr 2004

This group provides an environment where children are able to learn through stimulating play activities. The project is to purchase new purpose built storage furniture for keeping the children's play materials. These will be child friendly and colour coded, which will allow the children to make their own decisions and choices and develop organisational skills. The current furniture is not accessible by the children. The award is for storage system and fold away tables.

Playgroup Equipment 27 Apr 2004

The award will be used to purchase equipment for the playgroup. At present the playgroup share facilities with the nursery class but they are moving in Spring this year and are taking the furniture and equipment with them. This preschool is open to children between the ages of 2 to 3 years before they go to nursery in the Seabeigh community area. This group want the equipment and furniture so that they will be able to continue to offer the preschool service to the children of the community
