Animated Poetry with Pupils New to English 26 Feb 2018
Ilkley Literature Festival is the north of England’s largest literary festival and runs a year-round programme with community groups, families and young people. This project will explore how combining creative-writing techniques, visual arts and digital technology in four secondary schools around Leeds and Bradford can deepen and enhance engagement in and expression through creative writing for newly-arrived young people who are new to the English language.
No Fear Anxiety Support Group 31 Jan 2018
The group will establish a support network for people experiencing anxiety, to include advice on nutrition, exercise and relaxation.
The group will set up a new Why Don’t We group, enabling people with a range of learning disabilities to join. The group will reduce social isolation, foster relationships between the people they support and the wider community, and challenge prejudice.

The group will deliver a ‘Friends and Family Hub’ for families in the community which will help build relationships, increase skills and provide information on available services, giving opportunities to socialise and access greater awareness of local support and services in the local community.

The group will perform a play to inform audiences about human trafficking. The project incorporates training to front-line workers, informs audiences how to seek help, and provides booklets on how to spot signs of trafficking.
Food For Life 15 Jan 2018
The group will develop a community food shop for local people facing disadvantage and families with low incomes, which will be ran on a ‘pay what you can’ basis to reduce the stigma attached to accessing a regular food bank. Through the shop, people can also engage in wellbeing activities, drop-in support sessions and budgeting workshops. This will reduce stress, enable people to budget better, improve access to community services, and improve quality of life.
Dementia Awareness in BME Communities 07 Mar 2018
The group will deliver weekly dementia awareness sessions for people from black and minority ethnic communities. This will remove barriers for people affected by dementia and their carers to access advice and support to improve their day to day living.

The group will run a community dementia awareness project by providing weekly coffee sessions, drop in sessions and film screenings, bringing the community together to support each other and raise awareness around dementia.

The group will deliver a series of activities for older people, to include healthy cooking and basic computer skills workshops, where they will gain a greater understanding of the benefits of following a healthy diet and how to keep in touch with family and friends online, with the aim of addressing the issues of isolation and health inequalities.

The group will deliver a variety of cycling activities, to include cycle repair workshops and guided bike rides, for people of all ages across the community, encouraging local people to become more active. This will bring the community together through cycling.
