Expanding the club and its membership 20 May 2004
A project to recruit new membership into this pigeon racing club in West Bromwich, Sandwell, by improving facilities. The grant will pay for a computer, printer, software, a master clock and 10 clocks.
Community Tree Project 20 May 2004
Primary school to involve local artists, children and adults, out of school hours, in designing and building a 10 foot high tree to include clay leaves representing individuals or family units within the community. Sculpture will be placed in currently unused area of the school grounds.
This community organisation will use the award to run a pilot project in off-road unicycling for young people in the local community. The young people taking part in the project will also appear in the local carnival and at other local events and processions. premises and admin, volunteer expenses and materials, insurance, equipment, tuition fees for worker.
This group aims to promote the arts and encouraging people to learn through drama, play and musical events. The project is to organise a special event which will be a musical drama involving young people and their families. venue hire, drama party, PA system, publicity, refreshments & travel costs.
The group will use the award to pay for a feasibility study for the restoration of the village hall. fees for Structural Engineer and Architect.
This pre-school will use the award to develop an outdoor play area which will also be used by other community groups working with small children. The outdoor play area will have a usrface that can be used all the year round, and the project will also include provision of outdoor play equipment. excavating play area and laying matting, outdoor activities equipment.
Young-Onset Dementia - Arts Project 20 May 2004
This project will take forward the learning points from a very successful pilot project and develop the artists' delivery techniques and methodology. The programme which is designed to be adopted as 'best practice' in other PCTs areas offers weekly workshops in art and design to people with young - onset dementia. Patients will enjoy increasingly challenging activities designed to use 'arts' in the forms of potting, textile etc to build self confidence and sense of achievement.
Charity provide drop in centre, weekly meal and advice for the homeless. In partnership with local FE college have been providing education once a week award will enable them to extend this to 2 days a week.
The group will use the award to produce 2 leaflets which will publicise a Silver Jubilee commemorative waymarked footpath, and place waymarkers along the route. graphic design, printing, waymarkers and volunteers expenses.
The group are a small embroidery group who currently meet once a month to provide speakers and practical sessions. The award will allow them to hold a free 'Craft Olympics' day which will have various stalls and also allow them to hold further free workshops throughout the year. room hire, hall hire, tutors, publicity and advertising, projector and materials.
The group are a local football club who want to train volunteers with coaching skills to enable them to create a new girls team and continue their current team coaching to a higher standard. volunteer training, sports workshops, marketing.
Bingo machine 01 Apr 2004
An automatic bingo machine and raffle MultiMate will increase the number of members able to take part in the monthly games. The machine will enable the hard of hearing and visually impaired to take part in the games as well as organising the sessions. A croquet set will provide the more active members of the club with an additional activity.
75th anniversary outing 01 Apr 2004
Older members will be able to go on the Guild's 75th anniversary day trip thanks to a lottery grant. They will visit Higham Park, near Canterbury and look around the historic house and gardens followed by a cream tea. coach hire and cost of fifty cream teas
Pilot Festival 01 Apr 2004
Denmead will run a week long summer mini community festival at which residents will be able to take part in a range of cultural and sporting activities, including jazz and brass band concerts, skateboard competition, art show, forest forge show and workshops.
Gala Day 01 Apr 2004
This community group support the residents in the area and will use an award to hold a gala day which will also be offering advice, information and opportunities in the area. birds of prey display, insurance, marquee, flooring, advertising and local jazz band
Purchase of digital camera & printer 01 Apr 2004
This branch will purchase its first digital camera and printer to record its 70th birthday celebrations. The majority of members are over 70 years old and several will increase their skills by editing the photos on P.C.s. The record of events will then be put into a book which will form the latest edition in a series of scrap books scanning many years and occasions.
Music education work in special schools 01 Apr 2004
Local children from special schools will have the opportunity to work with professional musicians who will be performing at the festival. The musicians will run workshops and perform with the children at each school.

This church would like to improve the facilities in its community building. The award will provide toys and lockable storage cabinets for use by the groups that use the hall. toys and lockable storage cabinets.

This group provide a ward visiting service to collect requests for patients. They will use the award to update and refurbish their studio. computerised playout system and software
Illustrated talks for schools 01 Apr 2004
The group will buy presentation equipment. This will enable them to hold a series of illustrated educational talks and presentations for schools, local community and youth groups. Local people will be provided with a greater awareness of local wildlife and nature conservation.
