Bishopston Comprehensive School 11 May 2004

The City and County of Swansea will build a new four-court sports hall and fitness suite. The aims of the scheme are to provide better facilities that enable the school to meet the curriculum requirements, to increase primary and secondary extra curricular club use, to increase community use in priority groups such as women and girls, 50 plus, disabled and socially disadvantaged. The main beneficiaries of the scheme will be the 2,070 school pupils from Bishopston School and 6 local primary schools.

The City and County of Swansea will build a new four-court sports hall at Pentrehafod School. Objectives of the scheme include enhancing the participation of young people in PE, to create more extra curricular and community clubs to encourage more participation from local primary schools, to promote more community use and to meet the requirements of the PE National Curriculum. The main beneficiaries of the scheme will be the 2,000 pupils from Pentrehafod and 7 local primary schools.

Schools Work Project 19 May 2004

The project will provide supported work experience opportunities for pupils with learning disabilities and high support needs in school years 10-12. The work experience will help to give young people the chance to achieve and realise their potential within the work environment. _x000B_The grant over 3 years will pay for the salaries of 2 full time Co-ordinators, line management, running expenses, training & travel for staff and capital equipment.

This group furthers the interests of ex-members of Airborne Forces personnel and organise functions and activities to enable members to continue associations formed during their service with Airborne Forces. With a grant it will provide periodical newsletters and produce articles for 'Pegasus' the regimental magazine. This will increase membership, by improved publicity opportunities._x000B_ computer and printer.

Play Tennis Opportunities 24 May 2004

The funding will enable the group to provide new opportunities to play tennis at various locations across the Bolton area. The project will encourage those who would not normally have access to the game to 'have a go' and then move onto more advanced training and coaching at local clubs.

Health and Wellbeing Day 24 May 2004

The sports department of this secondary school will run a health and well-being day that will include activities such as yoga, swimming, healthy eating and fitness room session. The school will encourage the local community to use the sports centre facilities and will specifically target disabled people, GP referrals and females. The project aims to encourage people to take up activities that promote a healthy lifestyle and to raise awareness of the importance of exercise.
