The project will provide support in a range of issues including immigration, housing, welfare, education, health care, employment and training. A project that will assist with the establishment of a community drop-in facility in Handsworth. The project will enable the group to undertake small scale refurbishment to the centre, from which they will provide access to advice, support and information. The grant, over two years, will pay for rent, general running expenses, refurbishment, office equipment, volunteer expenses and printing costs.

A project to provide advice and information to Asylum Seekers and organisations working with them. The project is based in South Birmingham as there is a concentration of Asylum Seekers needing this kind of support. Support includes representing clients at Immigration Appeals Tribunals and giving free awareness raising courses. The grant, over three years, will fund a Project Manager, Caseworker, running expenses and office equipment.

Drop in Centre for Drug users 02 Sep 2004

A project to provide a drop in centre offering advice and support to drugs users and their families. The project will help users improve their quality of life and allow them to leave behind drug dependency and crime and obtain training and jobs. The grant, over three years, will fund two Community Workers, running costs, and organisational overheads.

St Georges CE Primary - New Grass Zoned MUG Sports and Adventure Area 06 Sep 2004

This project in Ladywood, Birmingham will see a new multi-use games, sport and adventure area. It will offer activities both inside and outside the curriculum including football, basketball, tennis, tag rugby, cricket, athletics and orienteering. Beneficiaries will include 200 of the school's own pupils, 35 parents and 125 other school users from a range of faiths and cultures.

Park Hill Primary School - Games Area Resurface and Play Equipment 06 Sep 2004

The school is a multi-cultural primary in Sparkhill, Birmingham. The project will increase access and provision by providing a multi-use games, sport and adventure area offering netball, football, basketball, hockey, a cricket square, badminton and a perimeter trail. Some 490 pupils, 120 community users and 190 other school pupils will benefit.

Acocks Green Infant and Junior School - New Playing Field and Drainage 06 Sep 2004

This project will develop a disused area into a grass playing field. It will enable better delivery of the curriculum and increase PE hours. The field will offer better opportunities for children with dyspraxia and associated difficulties to support social inclusion work. It will offer a wide range of activities such as football, PE, athletics, cricket, rounders and hockey. Some 500 pupils, 50 other school users and 150 community uses will benefit from the new field.

Yew Tree Community School - Playground Modernisation 06 Sep 2004

Birmingham Council will modernise an existing playground by levelling and resurfacing the area and providing a fence and line markings for zoned pitches and sports areas. The project will improve performance and behaviour in formal and informal outdoor activity, including football and netball. Beneficiaries are 400 pupils from the school, 110 pupils from other schools and 30 people from the community.

Lode Heath School - Floodlit STP with Fencing and Drainage Facilities. 06 Sep 2004

Solihull LEA will construct a full sized floodlit Synthetic Turf Pitch with fencing and drainage facilities at the school. This new facility will enable the school's programmes of activities for its 1003 pupils to increase to 2 hours of PE per week in line with the national curriculum as well as raise the standards of teaching and learning. Up to 320 feeder school pupils and 1230 visits from the community will be able to participate in activities such as hockey and football at the school.

Stockland Green School - Dance Studio and Fitness Suite 06 Sep 2004

This project will build a dance studio and fitness suite. The aim is to increase the variety and quality of sports and PE that will be offered at the school. Standards will be improved, there will be more varied dance styles taught and performed and individual fitness levels will rise. The beneficiaries will be 600 pupils at the school and 1,000 pupils from other schools. There will also be 400 community visits.
