Construct a Community Island Centre
The project is part of an existing programme of Community-led land development, which has already provided a chidren's play area and recreation area. The existing football pitch has been fully renovated, and new accessible pathways and route to the beach have been installed. The new phase of development will create a community centre with showers and changing facilities linked to a new camping site.
Oban High School
This project will provide a floodlit pitch at Oban High School. This will provide increased opportunities for over 2000 pupils and 5,000 people in the community to participate in a wide range of sports including football, hockey, junior shinty, rugby, netball, volleyball and athletics. Improvements will also be made to the existing changing accommodation.
Tobermory High School
This project will provide a multi-use games area at Tobermory High School. This will allow 250 people from the high school, 80 from surrounding primary schools and 945 from the wider community to enjoy a range of activities, including football, junior shinty, rugby, hockey, netball, volleyball, basketball and tennis.
Extend one-to-one support & outreach for people with mental health concerns
The project will extend the one-to-one support and outreach services provided by this self-help group to allow an additional 147 people with mental health concerns in the Cowal Peninsula area to improve their self-esteem and move on to training and employment opportunities. The project also seeks to reduce the hospital admission rate of beneficiaries in relation to mental health issues by providing a counselling service.
Building users capacity to influence health & care service planning & deliv
This project aims to build the capacity of this isolated, rural community so that they are fully involved in planning processes and consultations around health and community care issues. Person centred planning will empower service users to take greater control of their own lives. The grant will fund a development worker, running costs, training, expenses, fees for an IT specialist and audio-visual equipment.
A Motivational Training Programme Aimed at Unemployed & Disadvantaged Peopl
This project is to fund training in motivational techniques for 144 people suffering serious disadvantage with low self esteem and confidence issues to empower and develop their awareness and skills to approach life areas that require to be addressed. Through solution focused therapy, the beneficiaries will develop an understanding of their own motivation and be given the necessary tools to facilitate positive changes in their life, with the focus on accessing training and employment.
