Reduce the practice of FGM
The Development Support Agency provides information, advice and advocacy on women's health issues. The aim of the project is to prevent and reduce the high incidence of female genital mutilation among the African communities in North West London. The project will organise training workshops targeted at African women and men, provide information and advice and organise counselling for women living with the procedure.
PT Outreach Officer
This project will provide outreach advice and information to elderly people who are unable to visit the organisation due to disability, infirmity, caring responsibilities or mental ill health. It will offer information and general assistance on a range of issues including benefit entitlements, interpreting services for older people and help with form filling. Outreach will take place in older people's places of residence, including nursing homes.
East Barnet School (Barnet)
The Barnet East school sports partnership will offer ten activities over three years to targeted children across all key stages. Activities will include martial arts, cycling, table tennis, dance and fitness sessions, which will be held at local fitness clubs enabling pupils to use state of the art equipment and facilities. The project aims to improve fitness levels and links to local community facilities and clubs for pupils with disabilities, those with behavioural and health related issues.
Whitefield School (Barnet)
The Barnet South School Sports Partnership will offer a range of non-traditional activities with the aim of improving the health, fitness and movement skills of targeted children and young people aged 5 to 18. The project managed by Whitefield School will offer sensory room & hydrotherapy sessions, circus skills, cycling and martial arts to pupils with special educational needs and those with poor motor skills. Accredited leadership opportunities will also be available to older pupils.
Queen Elizabeth's Girls' School (Barnet)
The Queen Elizabeth's Girls' School Sports Partnership will provide a mix of sporting and physical activities, including circus skills, martial arts, cycling and dance for targeted children and young people across all key stages. Activities will take place at lunchtime, before and after school with the aim of promoting social interaction, better levels of concentration, improved health and fitness and the development of core skills. Activities will run from three years from September 2006.
