Holsworthy Memorial Hall offers many services on a daily basis and is seen as an important social and welfare venue across the whole district, but is suffering from major structural problems and requires more multi-use space in light of its increasing importance. This grant, over 1 year, will contribute towards the refurbishment of the hall and enable more services to be provided.
Taw & Torridge Caring Sitting Service
The project will provide respite breaks for carers in priority wards in North Devon as well as befriending and new social contact for older people they care for. Carers will also be able to access training and education, improve their social/leisure activities and overcome the social isolation they experience.
Monkleigh After School Sports Club
Additional coaching for existing after school sports will be provided.

The group will purchase new kayaks due to an increase of members of their club.

This new group will set up 6 beneficiary counselling groups a year for adults and children in the community who are bereaved or facing bereavement. Volunteers will be trained to carry out home visits as well from time to time.
The Lepers of Taddiport
A filmed torchlight pageant and workshops about the former lepers of Taddiport will give local people the opportunity to learn new skills and learn about the history of the area.
A bathroom will be refurbished to meet health and safety requirements. As the residents have limited sensory abilities they get great benefits from the water and this will improve their quality of life.
Develop 'High Five' netball team for primary aged school children
A 'high five' netball section designed for primary school aged children will be developed. There is very high demand for this project. The club's up and coming coaches and umpires will develop and maintain this section of the club.
To purchase an electric rolling mat
The village club will increase their activities by purchasing equipment to enable sessions to be held even when there are insufficient helpers to set up the equipment.
