Recipient Org: Description Egham Cricket Club (ECC) was formed on 1913 and has been on its present site since 1962. The club supports the local community in many different ways. Residents use the facilities virtually every day of the week for fitness, nursery and the local college. Schools use the facilities for PE and local history or geography lessons. ECC has a disabled boys team, a colts section of 120 young people, and 100 senior members. ECC is also home to 2 football teams and a University Cricket Club. The facility is available 365 days for the community to use and is also used by a number of local businesses, the Local Authority, residents, and community groups. The club is a Sport England marked Club, this insures that the club offers a safe and open environment that has all of the relevant policies and procedures in place. All volunteers are DBS checked for their suitability to work with children and vulnerable adults. The club wants to see children play sport competitively and in the right spirit and believes that sport is ideal for teaching young people respect for team mates, the opposition and officials. ECC is at the heart of the community and has a newly renewed 27-year lease on the facilities from Runnymede Borough Council. ECC is managed by 12 people, and is run entirely by it's 35 volunteers.
