How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site.

Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

In this website, cookies are used to:

  • Help analyse how our website is used.
  • Ensure other sites can’t “forge” requests.
  • Remember your choices within the application, for your convenience, and where relevant remember that you are logged into the application.

Open Data Services Co-operative Limited uses Matomo to analyse usage of this website (see Matomo section below). This uses cookies to identify you (anonymously) as the same user, so that we can analyse our web traffic better. E.g. it allows us to count how many users we have, instead of just total page views or analyse what pages people commonly visit together.

If you do allow cookies to be used, Matomo uses 1st party cookies, set on the domain of this website. Cookies created by Matomo start with:

  • _pk_ref
  • _pk_cvar
  • _pk_id
  • _pk_ses

See: http://piwik.org/faq/general/faq_146/ for more information.

This website is built using Django and we use that framework to set the following cookies:

  • csrftoken - (to prevent cross site scripting attacks)
  • sessionid - (so that we can save the things you have done, e.g. select a language)
  • cookielaw_accepted - (you will get this if you choose to accept cookies to remember that choice)

If you choose not to accept these cookies then this website may not work for you.

Enabling search and download of open grants data published using the 360Giving Standard

GrantNav is designed to make it easy for people search, explore and download open grant data published using the 360Giving Standard. It makes it possible to find out which organisations have funded which sectors or regions, making it easier to map out the resources that are available and how this may have changed over time. The application displays the details of thousands of grants awarded by a wide range of UK grantmakers which they have made publicly available.

Some 360Giving Standard open data includes basic information about individuals associated with a grant, such as name, job title and organisation.

GrantNav is not directly responsible for any of the data on this site. If you see a problem with data on this site this should be reported directly to the relevant organisation. To find out how to contact them, see the "Where is this data from?" section at the bottom of each GrantNav grant page. GrantNav is covered by the 360Giving Take Down policy for requests to remove data that is published to the 360Giving Standard: http://www.threesixtygiving.org/take-down-policy/
