Recipient Org: Description | Family Voice Surrey (FVS) exists to give a voice to parents and carers in Surrey of children and young people (0-25 years) with disabilities and/or additional needs by being the platform for their views, and raising awareness of, and sharing information on, their issues and rights. There are over 30,000 such children and young people in Surrey. FVS is part of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums, which acts as a national voice, and receives funding from the Department of Education and from Surrey County Council. FVS is the prime contact point for Local Authority and Health Authority requests for consultation, parent involvement or participation in any education, social care, and health work streams. FVS influences and contributes to the development of services and aims to put children and young people as well as their parents/carers and families at the heart of decision making._x000D_ FVS members are parent carers. With a current membership of 1000+ parent carers and a very active Steering Group, FVS supports and contributes to the many service transformation initiatives now underway in Surrey, including SEND Partnership and Programme Boards, Children's Community Health Services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Equipment and Adaptions Board and Children's Equipment Board, and Joint Autism Strategy. FVS has a Management Committee of 5 people (Parent volunteers). It has 3 part-time workers and 7 volunteers. The organisation is currently considering becoming a CIO and hopes that this process will be complete by March or April. |
