Recipient Org: Description The Meeting Room runs daytime drop in centres for homeless, socially isolated and marginalised individuals living and passing through Epsom & Ewell and Mole Valley. When Graham Peddie retired from Pitstop in 2014 he saw the need in Epsom & Ewell and established The Meeting Room. With the closure of Pitstop at the end of August 2015, The Meeting Room identified that following this there was a gap in support and services available to vulnerable people in Mole Valley, many of whom were personally known to the team already. Operations were therefore expanded to Leatherhead in September 2015._x000D_ The group offer a warm, safe and friendly environment where everyone is made to feel welcomeand have a chance to eat, relax and socialise. A hot nutritional meal is served free of charge and activities such as table tennis, bingo and other games are available. By listening to clients and gaining their trust the group attempt to help them by signposting them to agencies or professional bodies for help, or provide assistance themselves through their volunteers. Drop-in centres currently operate five days a week at The Crescent Centre (Leatherhead), St Barnabus Church (Epsom), Kings Church (Epsom) and Our Lady Sorrows (Effingham) with between 15-35 people attending each day. In addition, the group organise regular outings, including a barge trip twice a year and a residential trip to the Peak District for clients._x000D_ The Meeting Room became a registered charity in January 2016. There is a management committee of 4, 1 Part-time staff member and 6 volunteer helpers.
