Recipient Org: Description The Nightingales Culvert Flood Resilience Group was established in January 2016 to monitor, maintain and raise money to finance, the necessary low-level repairs to the Culvert where the Holdhurst Brook passes under Nightingales, which is a road running close to the Brook. Additionally, the group maintains a communication network for use during times of high flood risk. The group is a point of communication, cohesion and reassurance for local residents, many of whom are frail, vulnerable or retired and who are highly concerned following the flooding of December 2013. The group is connected to the Cranleigh Community Resillience Group, and has the approval and support of Cranleigh Parish Council and Surrey County Council. As the group’s experience and expertise develops, it intends to share knowledge with other local groups which are under the umbrella of the Cranleigh Community Resilience Group, and to conform to the Cranleigh Neighbourhood Plan which was prepared by Cranleigh Parish Council in 2013. The Nightingales group has a Management Committee of 4 people and 12 volunteers.
