Recipient Org: Description Staywell is an award-winning, well-established local charity supporting the interests of thousands of older people and their carers across Surrey (in the areas of Reigate, Banstead, Horley) and throughout the borough of Kingston upon Thames. It is an independent and completely autonomous charity. We have a highly successful track record in delivering quality services that change people's lives. We aim to support our beneficiaries to live with independence and dignity, decide the direction of their own lives and enjoy life as part of the community. We work to influence local policy and practice and create a greater understanding of the needs of our users and their potential to contribute to community life. We aim to foster greater understanding between the generations by involving younger people in our work through volunteering. Through our Community Furniture Service we address the needs of people who experience financial hardship and disadvantage for reasons other than age. Significant Activities: We offer a holistic, outcomes-focused and evidence-based range of services. Our three Centres in Reigate, Horley and Banstead (and our two Centres in Kingston upon Thames), act as hubs which can respond flexibly and creatively to the needs and aspirations of a wide range of people, with a range of targeted prevention and support services provided in buildings, complemented by flexible outreach services provided from buildings. Our approach is person-centred, and designed to ensure that a whole array of services is easily accessible, according to each individual’s needs and wishes. There are four main strands to our activities: • Information, advice and advocacy – to inform people of their choices, empower them and ensure they are receiving all their financial and other entitlements. • Housing and home support services – to support people to live independently and safely, in a comfortable home environment, and stay out of hospital and residential care. • Meaningful social activities and support – to reduce social isolation, which can lead to depression and worsen conditions such as dementia, and to foster connections that help build strong and cohesive communities. • Health and wellbeing – to encourage people to keep fit and active, learn new skills and improve knowledge, maintaining physical and mental health or delaying / reducing deterioration. Our main areas of activity are: - Information, Advice and Advocacy - Community Team - Day Services and Community Centres - Help@Home Service - Kingston Community Furniture - Handyperson Service - Dementia Development - Saturday Club (dementia service) - In-Touch telephone befriending scheme - Social engagement in sheltered housing project - Community lunch club - Digital Technology - Working in partnership - Opportunities for volunteering
