Recipient Org: Description Kirkby Lonsdale Community Cupboard is a volunteer-led community venture - providing support to the residents of Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding areas. The Community Cupboard was originally established in March 2020 by the community in response to the Covid-19 crisis and the growing concern for those in our community who were suffering from the restrictions and financial impact of the crisis. Since then we have grown considerably to meet existing and emerging needs in our community. We currently run five initiatives: The Hub - a volunteer run phone-line, offering practical support with shopping, picking up prescriptions etc to those unable to leave their house or don't feel comfortable about going out. The Cupboard - operates along the lines of a food bank, aim to ensure everyone in our community can access the food and provisions they need. The Food Club - a Fareshare initiative, run by and for its members - aims to reduce food waste and food bills. Community Lunches - Providing hot, nutritious meals both via delivery and in person lunches, to combat isolation and support vulnerable people. Physical and Mental Wellbeing - Including Strength & Balance Classes for elderly residents, and Mental Health first aid training.
