Recipient Org: Description Grange-over-sands Community Foodshare is a South Lakeland based environmental project focused on saving waste food, reducing CO2, emissions and strengthening community bonds, improving the lives of young people, tackling poverty and increasing well-being. 1. Reduce production of co2 from foodwaste e.g. Every week, we currently intercept and eat surplus food, equivalent to the co2 created by 70 flights from Manchester to Paris! 2. Tackle and relieve poverty by lessening the burden of the cost of food e.g weekly Foodclub membership is the equivalent of an additional £1500 3. Educate children and young people about growing food and effects of foodwaste 4. Create an inclusive space in Grange over Sands, accessible to all members of the community by initially sharing the surplus food which leads to the creation of lasting and self-supporting social bonds because of the work we do together. 5. To contribute to the relief of unemployment in the local community especially among dis-affected groups e.g. economically dis-advantaged young people, young single parents and care-leavers 6. To use our 'profits' to support people engaged with the project with anything that they need but can not afford, currently £100/household/year and to specifically support the aspirations and potential of our young people.
