Recipient Org: Description Forest Schools Birmingham is a small highly ethical, community organisation formalised in 2004 in response to the increasing demand for innovative intervention programmes with marginalized and vulnerable children, young adults and communities in urban, deprived environments. We deliver Teacher Training, Forest School, Growing and Community Engagement projects in a variety of settings. Although our foundation lies in the education sector, in recent years we have been increasingly commissioned by the council, businesses, charities and the voluntary sector. Our team are trained to work with a wide range of people to the very highest in safety standards. Our backgrounds are varied; from qualified teachers to councillors, chefs to experienced woodland managers, all with one thing in common, a passion for connecting people with wellbeing, their community and the natural environment. In 2015 and 2016 we were awarded, by the Birmingham Green Commission: Birmingham’s Best Green Business and Birmingham’s Best Food Project. We have been nominated again this year and are awaiting a decision. Forest Schools Birmingham's Kingstanding Food Community Project recently featured on BBC1 Panorama; Food and Farming Post Brexit and we are frequently asked to contribute opinion to policy making decisions both locally in Kingstanding and in Greater Birmingham. Last year, we were short listed for a Big Society Prime Minister's Award and were invited to Downing Street the meet the Prime Minister.
