Recipient Org: Description | The Friends of Jones Wood, is a community group of local volunteers who meet to carry out work in the ancient woodland Jones Wood for the benefit of the whole community. Records of the wood go back beyond the 17th century and over recent decades the wood had become overgrown, dark, unsafe and little used by the local community. The group have removed the invasive laurel and rhododendron, re-established pathways, build bridges allowing all year round use and created a children’s learning circle. The aims of the Friends is to provide a safe location for community enjoyment of the wood. |
