Recipient Org: Description AIMS 1. To support first generation migrant parents achieve positive behavioural outcomes for their children 2. Train and collaborate with professionals working with these families to better understand the cultural differences and to tailor their services to become more accessible to Black & Ethnic minority families. 3. Promote the narrative of the African diaspora on issues pertaining to Education, Health and Social wellbeing of the British African family. OUR ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES 1.Through Parenting Seminars and Classess. We provide information and support to parents for Child Protection and safeguarding purposes. Culture, religion, and ethnicity are no excuse for child abuse. We discuss parenting styles and practices with an aim to be compliant to UK family Law and sensitivity to children's developmental stages and needs. 2. Inter-cultural Dialogues. We run training for professionals and practitioners to help them understand the African diaspora's perspective on subjects such as Special Education Needs, Mental Health, FGM and Sex Education. The training sessions can be in the mode of a facilitated dialogue between service users and practitioners, or just to practitioners on their own. 3. Targetted Community and Family Days. We mobile members of the community to set up and run community days.
