Recipient Org: Description | Montpelier Bean Feast (MBF) is a free community celebration in Montpelier Park, this year Saturday 17 September from 1-6pm. Run by local volunteers, its planned year-round with schools, artists and community groups to bring Montpelier together for a afternoon in the local park. Originating in the 1700s as a harvest festival, it restarted in 2009 as a family day for the whole community to enjoy. MBF increases familiarity among neighbours; develops local sustainability; celebrates the creativity of young people; reduces isolation for older residents; increases year-round use of Montpelier Park; brightens up a run-down area and invigorates interest in Montpelier's heritage. |
