Recipient Org: Description The West of England MS Therapy Centre was established as a charity in 1985. The Centre is a fully accessible building used by people from North Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath & North East Somerset and South East Wales. We provide treatments and therapies to people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and increasingly other neurological conditions in a caring, friendly and professional environment. The aim of the Centre is to support people with MS and other neurological conditions so that they can remain independent and active for as long as possible. Whilst there is no cure for many of the conditions we treat, the therapies and social support we offer helps individuals to cope better with the debilitating symptoms of the condition. We are bolstered by a huge team of volunteers. In our oxygen treatment room we have 20 volunteers who operate as a team to keep the oxygen chamber running full time, including on some evenings. There are volunteers helping across the Centre from administration to running the Carers group. We’ve estimated that the charity and members benefit from 751 direct volunteer hours every month.
