| Recipient Org: Description | The club aims to provide health and wellbeing provision mainly to people in the community where it resides. The club also delivers sport specific training for a range of age groups for Olympic Weightlifting/Powerlifting. The development age group starts from 8 years old and there is no upper age limit. Pre COVID the Health and Wellbeing Officer (HWO) from the club delivered a range of health related provisions in the community including chair based exercise for older people, breakfast clubs, mental health and weight management support groups and diversionary activities for young people. Since COVID-19 pandemic the HDO has launched an online Health and Wellbeing programme. Shortlees is an area ranked highly in the SIMD, the HWO’s role and the Weightlifting clubs vision is to increase & encourage participation in Weightlifting and to work within the community to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the residents in Shortlees. |
