ILC3 control of adaptive immune responses (360G-Wellcome-110199_Z_15_A)
My work is about understanding the mechanisms that regulate immune responses. Such knowledge will enhance our ability to control immune responses, restricting autoimmunity and improving vaccination. The latter is obviously a key area where public understanding and participation is vital to the strategyworking, in terms of patient uptake, fears over what vaccines are and what scientists and clinicians are actually doing and why. My engagement strategy will therefore focus on improving awareness and opening a dialogue with the public on this topic. Through my programme of activities, I want to convey important health messages(i.e. vaccination as the best means of preventing disease in the population, recent evidence on emergence of certain diseases due to low vaccine uptake), as well as linking these to scientific principles; vaccination is a key example where understanding of the immune response can enhance our ability to get the desired outcome (vaccinated individuals) across the population. I planto engage different target audiences, highlighting differences in responses
