Continue and grow ActivEyes project (360G-ocf-a061600000lwFB3)

In 2015, Oxfordshire Association for the Blind set up a group called ActivEyes. Run predominantly by volunteers, it offers an exciting opportunity for anyone over the age of 18 with a visual impairment and living in Oxfordshire to take part in some challenging activities, with the aim of improving their health and mental well-being and building self-confidence. The core activities of the group are: Twice a month cycling event at Horspath running track. Undertaken with the support of tandem riders and trained volunteers. Due tot he popularity of this group we have purchased two tandem bikes and are keen to expand this service further. Once a month tennis with specially trained coaches in Abingdon Once a month sailing at Farmoor Reservoir Once a month social outing at the pub Occasional walks (usually ending with a pub trip) Games evenings with board games and group games Activities the group have also expressed an interest in include: Rock Climbing More cycling events Goalball Botcha Punting In just over year the group has gone from strength to strength, 15 of our current 53 members attend every social gathering, while others just attend for the acttvities they are interested in. Many of the members are now socialising together out side the ActivEyes group and it is wonderful to see this expansion of the group, to see them having so much fun, making new friends and support networks. We ant to ensure this group can both continue to operate and to grow.
