Resilient youth, stronger families: culturally-relevant coaching and parenting support to improve mental health (3517)

£554,570
Recipient Organisation

Goal: Improved daily management of mental health difficulties in children and young people (CYP) to prevent further escalation alongside parent/community support to destigmatise and improve access to MH services. Challenges: CYP from non-white backgrounds are less likely to access support for their MH. Due to stigma and a lack of awareness and confidence, parents can inadvertently play a key part in this. MH difficulties are exacerbated by hampered executive functioning, including the ability to self-regulate, interact socially, perform daily tasks/routines, and achieve goals. Solutions: - Executive function coaching for CYP through schools/community/faith groups - A culturally relevant mental health programme for parents/carers
