Recipient Org: Description Halifax Opportunities Trust is a charity with roots based in the Park Ward area of Calderdale. The Trust was established in 2000 by local people and its’ purpose is ‘to work to make a vibrant, multicultural and self-sustaining community’ by tackling poverty across Calderdale. Our work is structured into 6 key areas that we know are important to making thriving communities and these are: Employment, Learning, Wellbeing, Enterprise, Inclusive Integration and Children & Families. We manage Children’s Centres and Childcare settings, supporting parents to give their children the best start in life. Our projects also provide support to people to access volunteering and learning opportunities (including apprenticeships) to build confidence and self-esteem, help to increase skills and find suitable employment, and opportunities to engage and integrate into local communities. We also offer individuals support whilst starting up small businesses.
