Recipient Org: Charity Number SC041673
Recipient Org: Description We are part of the National Charity - and we are developing and strengthening community activities in Park Ward, Halifax using The Outback Community Garden and the Annex of the Jubilee Centre as a base. We have educational activities for children aged 5 to 10 and then an empowerment programme for junior youth aged 11 to 15 and supported by youth aged 15 to 30. The junior youth programme looks at developing a moral framework in young people to help them undertake meaningful service in their communities through service projects aimed at issues they themselves identified need addressing in their community. The first project has been a clean up and gardening work in the memorial garden on Hanson Lane which has fallen into an awful state in recent years. We are collaborating with the Local Authority Gardens and Parks Department - and the Great British Spring Clean/ Keep Britian Tidy - on 1st April in Calderdale - will be hosted at our location at the request of the Local Authoroty in recognition of the services we are rendering. Alongside these activities parents, especially mums, come along to support and we are starting some training to develop more teachers, and initiate some cooking activities to provide meals on Saturday for local families. We are collaborating with Mohammed Hanif (ACE CIC Calderdale) and are planning some activities for the youngsters at half term - days out, physical activity to promote wellbeing etc. We also attend the Park Ward informal meetings hosted by HOT and St Augustines to allign our efforts ot other organisations in the neighbourhood.
