| Recipient Org: Description | - Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) is an independent, registered charity, that has been saving lives across Yorkshire since 2000. - With two helicopters, each with specialist Critical Care Teams of paramedics & doctors, we provide a rapid-response emergency medical service to over 5 million people across Yorkshire. - YAA brings pre-hospital critical care to seriously injured or sick patients at the scene, 365 days a year. - YAA can quickly reach incidents in rural, isolated or congested locations, saving vital minutes. The average flight time is just 12 minutes. - The swift medical interventions provided on scene—including blood transfusions, advanced pain-relief and certain surgeries--can have a major impact on a patient’s chance of survival and subsequent quality of life. - If a patient requires immediate transfer to a hospital, they can be carried at speeds of up to 160mph to the most appropriate regional Major Trauma Centre in Leeds, Middlesbrough, Hull or Sheffield to provide follow on care and lifesaving treatment. -YAA receives no government funding, relying solely on donations and grants. To keep both of our Air Ambulances flying as and when required, we need to raise £6.9Million per year. |
