Recipient Org: Description Age Concern Todmorden is the only charity supporting the 3,000+ older people in this rural market town. Staff and volunteers offer opportunities to boost confidence, health, get involved, make friends, and have income and support people are entitled to in order to enjoy a fulfilling later life. Staff run a valued accessible, daily drop- in; sharing information on topics including health, social and dental care, hospital discharge, energy, heating, water, renting, tenancies, home ownership, retirement planning, pensions, tax, debt, legal matters, wills, care plans, equity release, adaptations, end of life and funerals. We offer online access and offer appointments to make phone calls and complete forms such as housing, Blue Badge, Bus pass and Attendance allowance applications and renewals. We display/ share other organisations' information, eg. on events. Volunteers run popular weekly coffee mornings, lunch clubs and external instructors deliver exercise classes in comfortable venues including Roomfield House, and Methodist Central. Tea, coffee, biscuits and a raffle are enjoyed by c60 people each week. A listening ear and assistance to negotiate bureaucracy, navigate admin and understand options helps people who are often anxious and digitally, financially and socially excluded feel respected, reassured and more hopeful about the future, increasing wellbeing.
