Sefton Alternative Education Provision Pilot Project (360G-CFLM-A675804)

To offer 4 placements to young people with autism on an Alternative Education scheme for 8 weeks, 1 4 hour session a week. These sessions will cover a personalised programme following a needs assessment using visual tools and practical tools. It will conclude with an evaluation and training in bicycle maintenance as to provide life skills.

Recipient Org: Description Mission To support children and young adults with autism Main purposes To help them realise their potential within a total communication environment by: • Encouraging their personal development, communication skills, self-esteem and confidence, through supported placements e.g. as part of a flexible education or employability programme • Aiding their transition to access further education, volunteering, training or employment opportunities, should they wish to do so. • Partnership working e.g. with schools, local authorities, Sefton@Work, Sefton CVS, Sefton Volunteer Bureau etc. to ensure they are fully included in the community Activities Supported placements take place within our three award-winning social enterprises: 1. WeGrow – our fresh vegetable and free range egg business in Churchtown. We offer experience in food and compost production, front of house sales and deliveries 2. A Great Little Place - our Café in Southport. We provide training in all aspects of the café business e.g. customer service, sales, marketing and food production 3. MeCycle - our combined Café & Bike Workshop in Ainsdale. We offer café business experience as well as cycling mechanics e.g. repairs, rebuilding, deliveries and sales. We are seeking support to pilot new alternative education provision for schools over the next 12 months
