Recipient Org: Description “Helping to build positive futures and overcome barriers for people of all ages “ YMCA Wirral is the main provider of supported accommodation for homeless men and women aged over 18 years in Wirral. During 2022, over 2000 people accessed our homeless services for support and advice through one or more of the following services: supported homeless hostel, move on housing, emergency homeless outreach, emergency triage and night shelter. Most of the men & women accessing our services have physical and mental health issues and a large number are substance and/or alcohol dependent. Our Support Workers have the experience to support any clients wanting to address their addictions and we offer a range of therapeutic, mentoring and volunteering opportunties to clients wanting to progress towards moving on and living independently in the community. YMCA Wirral provides a range of activites for its clients and the wider community to improve their life in meaningful activity. • A structured volunteer programme for all YMCA Clients and members of the wider community. • A controlled drinking room for YMCA clients to reduce alcohol-related harm. Open 8am-4pm 5pm-8pm every day. Key workers and partnership agencies work with clients to reduce alcohol consumption and reduce the impact of street drinking on the local community.
