Recipient Org: Description | 4Wings is a grassroots organisation founded as a response to a lack of longer-term services provided to marginalised, disadvantaged, and socially excluded women in Liverpool; many who additionally have experienced trauma, and abuse, and thus face multiple layers of inequality and discrimination. These women have fallen through the gaps of traditional support routes, which often results in long-term mental health and well-being issues, isolation, marginalisation, and re-victimisation. 4Wings’ main aim is to work alongside women, guiding them in taking the 'next steps' to a more positive future for themselves and their dependents. Our mission is to engage, enable, and empower our members with the following objectives: -providing a welcoming, safe, and non-judgemental space for women from a wide range of backgrounds and nationalities (including refugees/asylum seekers and others minoritised groups) as a source of a social support network where they can talk about their struggles freely, exchange knowledge and experiences, and feel a sense of belonging. Therefore, improving overall individual and community well-being. -reducing social isolation and removing barriers to inclusion/integration by making our projects/services easily accessible. - developing holistic and non-formal creative personal development projects in consultation with them and the barriers faced to rebuilding self-worth/identity and improving self-esteem, self-efficacy, and confidence. |
