Recipient Org: Description The Colne Open Door Centre is located in Colne, a small East Lancashire market town. Colne is part of the Borough of Pendle which has a population of approximately 92,000 (2019 ONS). According to the Indices of Multiple Deprivation (2019), Pendle is the 36th most deprived local authority in the country (out of 317). This equates to Pendle being in the top 15% most deprived authority areas in the country. In brief we provide: A free counselling service with unlimited sessions, which provides over 400 hours of free counselling per month to our community, to improve mental health and wellbeing. A drop in support service, which provides support for all in our community with any issue causing distress. This mainly involves benefit advice, debt support, housing and homelessness support or mental health and emotional support. A community café, serving low cost/free meals in a safe, warm, and non judgemental environment. The community cafe has a kids eat free policy to ensure all children in our area have access to a free hot meal. A community venue which provides peer support such as self harm support, AA, NA, hoarding support, mental health and anxiety and depression support to improve inclusion and mental health issues in our community. A community growing garden which produces fruit and vegetables for our community café and provides social inclusion for people suffering with isolation. Internet access to assist with the application of work roles. Free qualifications to our community in partnership with local educational services, such as Health and Social Care, First Aid, Maths and English and ESOL. Showering facilities for the homeless.
