Recipient Org: Description 4Wings is a charitable women's organisation in Liverpool. At the centre of our organisation’s planning, delivering, and evaluating services are women, most of whom asylum seeking and refugee women from the most deprived postcodes in Merseyside. Many are highly vulnerable survivors of trafficking, trauma and abuse, who suffer multiple layers of disadvantage, which further contributes to their minoritisation, social isolation and mental health challenges. Our board of directors and team all have a migrant background and lived experience of the issues we are addressing. We know first-hand about the lack of longer term after-care services to survivors of abuse and trauma, leaving many vulnerable to re-victimisation. Whilst survivors do require counselling to come to terms with what they have experienced, a forward facing after-care service is much needed. Our mission is to engage, enable and empower the women to enable them to take the 'next steps' in their life, our focus is: - rebuilding self-esteem - improve mental and physical well-being, - enabling self-efficacy, - options building and goal setting We design all our projects using an intersectional lens, in consultation with our members and their expressed barriers. In line our theory of change all our projects and programmes focus on - Inclusion and integration into the local community - Intersectionality - Developing access to equal opportunities to gain personal and financial independence - Empowering the women to raise their voices Our services are free, open, dialogical, and flexible to be shaped and altered according to immediate ongoing feedback from our members. All activities are based on a relational group-based approach to encourage a culturally sensitive and interpersonal way of supporting the emotional and social growth of the participants. People in periods of transition, who are dealing with mental health issues often don’t respond to formal training approaches. We predominantly use creative non-formal teaching methods to reach the women from diverse backgrounds with different needs, preferences, and abilities. Non formal game-based learning provides better access to understanding complex issues and to deal with uncertainty and conflict. Participation in the planning, a sense of autonomy, choice and responsibly for the success of the course is the key to ensure the participants take ownership of the learning outcomes. According to available funding we offer - Drop-In Service for individual support and referrals - Storytelling, including performances so that the stories can be shared in different communities - Resilience training - Digital, Media and financial literacy - Employment support - Creative English Language - Events to promote networking and intercultural exchanges - Volunteering options - Mentoring and coaching on a group and individual level - Physical exercise to support mental wellbeing - Train-the-Trainer Programmes - Outreach services for the most vulnerable and marginalised members - Campaigning
