Recipient Org: Description Since 1887, YMCA St Helens has delivered a wide range of projects and work in the community, providing a mixture of housing, training, support & advice for 250+ homeless people and 150+ families and young people per year through our various projects. We are a lead organisation in many local strategy groups, helping shape the future vision of the VCFSE sector and town. At the centre of our work is an aim to transform communities so that all people belong, contribute and thrive. Our objectives are to: • Seek opportunities to make a transformative impact on people’s lives in St Helens and surrounding communities • Welcome people, providing a safe space where they can feel secure, respected, heard and valued • Inspire people to nurture their body, mind and spirit, realising their full potential • Speak on issues that affect our communities, helping people become confident to express themselves and have their voices heard • Serve others, being an active participant locally and in the wider world • Invest in people so they grow, develop and progress. All this is done through: • Housing projects offering planned, progressive pathways to sustainable independent living for single homeless people aged 18-55. • Support and advice, combined with training & education, providing a ‘stepping-stone’ to independence. We work in partnership with other agencies, increasing the likelihood of residents breaking free from the cycle of poverty and homelessness. • Family/youth work, including a fully registered nursery that focuses on developing children’s self-confidence, autonomy and appetite for learning, with projects for children and young people aimed at equipping them to reach their full potential. Our new Youth Hub supports the overall development and wellbeing of the community's young people. • Health & Wellbeing activities that provide opportunities and support to people of all ages.
