Recipient Org: Description Community Lives Matter a CIO, Charity no. 1189401 was set up in July 2019. It was set up to build upon the work of Cottage Lane Mission in Ormskirk. The objects of the CIO are: “To further or benefit the residents of Ormskirk and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.” ‘Community Lives Matter’ is a newly formed charity originating from members of ‘Cottage Lane Mission’ a church in Ormskirk, Lancashire. The charity is independent from the church and is acting as an inter-faith initiative seeking to improve the social lives of the community. The church have agreed to allow their building to be used by the charity on a rental basis. Community Lives Matter is committed to working to improve the lives and opportunities of residents in our community. From supporting younger people in education to providing social contact for the elderly, vulnerable or lonely we strive to meet the particular needs of those we serve. Various activities and projects are run from the centre as well as outreach work thus bringing the community as a whole together. Current community sessions include: The Dementia Bowls Group, Dementia Cafe, Luncheon Club, Tutoring Sessions for local Children and our Asylum Seeker Project.
