| Recipient Org: Description | Overall Aims and Objectives of Preston Domestic Violence Service: Since 1994, Preston Domestic Violence Service has stood alongside survivors and communities to end domestic abuse and violence. Our overarching aim is to create a future where hope prevails—where survivors lead change, communities unite against abuse, and every person lives free from fear and oppression. We work to dismantle harmful systems and create pathways to safety, justice, and healing through survivor-led advocacy, support, and collective action. Our objectives are to: Provide immediate and long-term support for individuals affected by domestic abuse. Empower survivors through trauma-informed, person-centred services. Promote safety, wellbeing, and resilience for survivors and their families. Advocate for systemic change to prevent abuse and hold perpetrators accountable. Collaborate with communities and partners to build sustainable solutions. Our Approach PDVS is a trauma-responsive organisation. We listen first, move at the survivor’s pace, and always respect their choices. We understand that every experience is unique and that safety and trust take time to build. Our staff and volunteers are specially trained to provide sensitive, confidential support that prioritises empowerment and dignity. Services and Activities We deliver a comprehensive range of free, confidential services for anyone aged 16 and above living in Preston, regardless of gender, background, or identity. Access is available via self-referral or agency referral. Our core services include: Advice and Support Helpline: Immediate guidance, emotional support, and practical advice. One-to-One Outreach Support: Tailored assistance with safety planning, housing, benefits, and legal options. Group Work Intervention: Peer support and recovery programmes that foster resilience and shared healing. Specialist Domestic Abuse Counselling: Trauma-informed counselling delivered by qualified professionals. Sanctuary Scheme: Practical measures to improve home security for survivors at risk. Survivor Forum: Monthly peer-led meetings for support, empowerment, and service development. Vision A society built on equity, accountability, and compassion, where survivors lead change and communities unite against abuse and violence. Values Hope: The foundation for healing and change.
